CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area United Way (CAUW) recently delivered more than 100 books through its Reading Ripples Project for children at the Clearfield County Housing Authority as part of a Summer Reading initiative.

The CAUW has now distributed nearly 3,000 books. “We can all remember our favorite childhood books, and the way it could fire your imagination,” stated Debbie Bowser, CAUW campaign chair.

“Reading aloud is the single most important thing you can do to help prepare a child for reading and learning.  And, this is one more way to get books into the hands of children and to inspire a love of reading.”

Gently-used books are collected for the Reading Ripples Project, coordinated, processed and then distributed by the CAUW.

“We work with more than 80 volunteers and 24 member agencies that touch lives from infants to the elderly throughout eastern, southern and central Clearfield County,” added Nancy Pinto of the CAUW.

“We are always collecting gently-used children’s books. If an individual or a group of employees would like to do a collection, we will be more than happy to deliver those to children’s groups.”
