Magnitude 6.9 earthquake strikes Alaska’s Aleutian Islands

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck near Alaska’s Aleutian Islands late Sunday night, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake occurred 58 miles (94 kilometers) east-southeast of Yunaska Island, in the Fox Islands — which are in the middle of the Aleutians. The earthquake struck at a depth of 16.8 miles (27.1 kilometers).

There was no immediate reports of injuries or of a tsunami warning.
