MCCALMONT TOWNSHIP – A DuBois man was flown to Altoona after two all-terrain vehicles were involved in an accident Sunday on Graffius Avenue in McCalmont Township, reported the state police at Punxsutawney.
Ernest S. Sharp of DuBois was traveling on an ATV behind Stevion E. Sharp of Punxsutawney. Ernest Sharp’s ATV rear-ended the ATV driven by Stevion Sharp in the middle of northbound travel lanes, state police said.
Upon impact both Ernest and Stevion Sharp lost control of their ATVs. Both were thrown off of their ATVs, state police said, adding that Ernest Sharp suffered “major head injuries” and was flown to Altoona.
Ernest Sharp was cited for following too closely through the district court, state police said. State police were assisted at the scene by the McCalmont Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.
