Detour will be in place July 27 through Aug. 31
CLEARFIELD – A bridge replacement job is scheduled July 27 through Aug. 31 in Clearfield County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
A bridge on Route 2015 (Oak Ridge Road) in Bigler Township will be replaced with a new concrete box culvert. Replacing the bridge will remove it from Clearfield County’s structurally deficient list.
The work is expected to last through Aug. 31 and an official detour will be in place for the length of the project. The detour will direct drivers to use Route 53 (Glenn Hope Boulevard), Route 729 (Tyrone Turnpike Highway), and Route 3020 (McCartney Road).
Starting July 27, crews will begin work to replace the current concrete slab bridge with a new precast box culvert. The Bigler Township bridge spans Porter Run, near the village of McCartney. Originally built in 1919, the current 10-foot bridge carries an average of almost 300 vehicles daily.
Employees of PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance will perform excavation and removal of the existing bridge. Crews from Terry Hill Construction LLC of Lebanon, Pa., will set the new box culvert, install new guide rail, and pave the roadway.
Should work progress allow, PennDOT will re-open the roadway and bridge prior to the Aug. 31 completion date. PennDOT reminds drivers to follow detour signs, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
