Wilson Leads Police on Vehicle Chase

DUBOIS- A DuBois man is accused of leading police on a vehicle chase.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Patrick Ford’s office July 15, Trevor Ray Wilson, 31, DuBois, is charged by the DuBois City police with fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, speeding, careless driving, reckless driving, and five summary traffic charges following an incident June 14.

According to the affidavit, officers on patrol saw a blue Pontiac Grand Prix traveling 50 miles-per-hour in a 35 MPH zone. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and continued traveling toward South Brady Street, swerving back and forth.

As the driver continued to flee from police, the vehicle allegedly ran through stop signs and flashing red lights, nearly drove into the parking lot of Kwik Fill, crossed over the centerline, nearly struck several mail boxes and came close to driving into numerous yards.

As police continued to chase the vehicle, it came to a sudden stop on South Main Street, in the middle of the road. The driver got out of the vehicle and started running toward the woods. A female passenger got out of the vehicle and the officers ordered her to get on the ground, which she did.

Police took the woman into custody and she allegedly told them that she had just met the man that night and that his first name was Trevor. She said she had been drinking and the man offered to drive her to another bar. She said when the driver saw the police vehicle behind them, she knew he wasn’t going to stop. The woman said she told him to stop, because he was driving her vehicle. She said she asked the driver to let her out of the vehicle. She said the driver allegedly told her he was a felon and that he wasn’t going to stop. The woman said the people at the bar would be able to identify the driver.

The officers spoke to several people at the bars the woman passenger said they had been to and were able to identify the driver as Wilson.

Further investigation showed that Wilson was on parole from state prison and that his driver’s license had been suspended for DUI.
