DUBOIS – DuBois City police say criminal charges are pending against a woman after she left her two-week-old baby alone with her apartment door open in order to look for her missing 2-year-old.
According to the report, police were called at 11:07 p.m. Saturday about a 2-year-old girl who had wandered out of her mother’s apartment. She had walked down four floors and exited the apartment building.
Police say the girl crossed West Long Avenue and pulled on the door to Frank’s Pizza. Employees of the pizza shop saw the girl and took her into their custody until police arrival to the scene.
When the girl’s mother arrived at the pizza shop, she told police that she had dozed off and her daughter had walked out of the apartment.
Upon investigation police found that the woman had left her two-week-old baby alone in her apartment with the door open in order to look for her missing 2-year-old.
Children & Youth Services were notified and charges are pending against the woman, police say.
