WOODLAND – The Lake Street United Methodist Church hosted its fifth annual work camp week in June.

Seventy-five work camp volunteers from around Pennsylvania donated their labor to area homeowners by making home repairs and finishing minor building projects.

Fourteen Bradford Township residences and churches received new wheelchair ramps, an outdoor stage, had buildings repainted and roofs repaired and other services received.

The Allport-Bigler Woodland Work Camp was started in 2011 by Jeff Fisher, a United Methodist minister in Harrisburg and former professional contractor who grew up in Woodland.

Since then the Lake Street United Methodist Church in Woodland has hosted the annual work camp, helping residents in the towns of Allport, Bigler and Woodland receive construction services from volunteers.

For more information and applications to receive services or volunteer for next year’s work camp, please contact the ABW Work Camp, c/o Woodland United Methodist Parish, 115 Lake St., Woodland, PA 16881.
