Library Outlines Summer Reading Program for Week 6

CLEARFIELD – The Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library’s “Every Hero Has A Story!” summer reading program continued last week and celebrated Hero Within Me.

Preschool attendees had the chance to show off their unique talents, adults had an experience visiting the Clearfield County Historical Society presented by Denny Schaffner, president of the organization, and school-aged youth had the opportunity to meet the Potter Baseball Team.

The Every Hero Has A Story! summer program celebrates “Heroes in History” in week six with another fun and eventful week of programming for all ages.

Read-to-Me participants are invited to “Fairytale Heroes” on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.  Children may come dressed as their fairytale character and enjoy a crown making craft and medieval games.

Also, on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., adults are invited to join us for “Tech Talk.”  Attendees will learn about the preloaded Nooks available for checkout and how to borrow items from the Overdrive Digital Library.  The evening’s presenter is Kayla Clark, library staff member.

On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., all ages are invited to enjoy “Hero’s on Hand,” a puppet show presented by Adam Swartz Puppets. The event is sponsored by the Clearfield Legion and the Clearfield VFW.

The youth programming wraps up with “Medieval Heroes” on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for school-aged B age group.  The program is a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activity and promises to be an enjoyable, entertaining and educational opportunity for all in attendance.

Lastly, the library wants to remind summer readers to register for the final week of programming events by calling or stopping in the library.
