Republican presidential candidates will gather for their third presidential debate at the University of Colorado in Boulder on Oct. 28, the school and CNBC, which is running the debate, announced Thursday.
The event, titled “Your Money, Your Vote: The Presidential Debate on the Economy,” will focus on pocketbook issues such as taxes and job growth. It will follow earlier debates hosted by Fox News next month in Cleveland and by CNN in California on Sept. 16.
Both of those organizations have announced plans to limit the number of Republican candidates who will grace the stage in their signature events. That news has encouraged some candidates to take unusual steps like launching national television advertisement during the summer or pouncing on opportunities to attach their campaign to the news of the day.
CNBC has not yet said whether it will similarly limit the Republican field, which is expected to grow to 16 next week when Ohio Gov. John Kasich is expected to formally enter the primary.
The Republican National Committee has looked to limit the number of forums to rein in what was an unwieldy, ceaseless series of debates during the 2012 cycle. The only other RNC-sanctioned debates in 2015 will be hosted by Fox Business in Wisconsin in November and a second debate by CNN in Nevada in December.
The Colorado debate will be the first one on a college campus this cycle.
