CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC), in collaboration with The Liddle Gallery, will host the first-ever Clearfield Art on the River Today (ART) festival.
This new downtown festival is to promote the art community within Clearfield County and surrounding areas. It will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Aug. 22 on Market Street between Front and Second streets.
The Clearfield ART collaborative festival will encompass the visual arts – drawing, painting and sculpting; performance arts – music, dance and theatre; and media arts – photography, film-making and literature for the purpose of providing a venue for artists and artisans to display and sell their work, showcase talent and to perform.
Fine artists and artisans, musicians and performance artists and actors are invited from Clearfield County and the surrounding areas to participate in this Clearfield arts festival in downtown Clearfield.
“Our goal is that attendees will come from local and the surrounding areas to participate in the festival,” said event organizers. “The goal of this festival is to become a part of the Pennsylvania Wilds Artisan Trail and to become a driving force for grassroots economic development in the Pennsylvania Wilds and a source of inspiration and community pride.
“Our festival would help serve the three main groups: the makers of artisan products; the retailers who want to sell high-quality, locally-made products; and the traveling public – the people looking to experience our region and ‘take home a piece of the Pennsylvania Wilds.’”
“We find it exciting that our community could be included in the ways to broaden the scope of the Pennsylvania Wilds Artisan Trail and make exploring the Artisan Trail even easier.
“The Artisan Trail is on track to build one of rural PA’s largest networks of creative entrepreneurs and help them bring products to market that reflect our region’s natural beauty, bounty and rural traditions while giving an economic boost to our local communities.”
Main Street Manager Loretta Wagner commented, “The community loves our CRC Bloom & Berry Bash and Fall Festival that will take place on Oct. 10, and we wanted to offer something similar but fitting for the art community.
“Keeping a festival in downtown on the street opens the opportunity for our businesses to participate and holds on to that concept of bringing people to downtown for shopping and activities.
“We want to bring as much value as we can to our merchants while engaging the community as much as possible. We hope the community will welcome this event as much as they did the Bloom & Berry Bash and the Fall Festival.”
