John G. Livergood, 93, of Eden died at his residence Tuesday, July 7, 2015. He was born Oct. 6, 1921, the son of the late Charles C. and Ada (Condon) Livergood.

He married “Bessie A. “Petie” (Carter) Livergood on Sept. 11, 1965.

Mr. Livergood worked in the coal industry for over 40 years. He was also a laborer at Plubell Sawmill for 10 years until his retirement. After his retirement, Mr. Livergood worked part-time for Goshen Township.

He enjoyed hunting, watching western movies, listening to country music, playing cards and most of all spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Club and the Goshen Fire Hall. He was a 50-year member of the Third Ward Hose Fire Co. in Clearfield.

Mr. Livergood is survived by three children, Harry R. O’Dell and his wife, Kathleen of Lancaster, Thomas A. O’Dell of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Larry W. O’Dell of Clearfield.

He is also survived by a son-in-law, Kenneth McKendrick of Clearfield; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the second youngest of 13 children. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers; two sisters; his parents; his wife who died Jan. 6, 2006; a daughter, Nellie McKendrick, who died April 26, 2006; and a grandson, Robert Kimmit, who died May 14, 2001.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Kenneth Leonard officiating.

Friends are invited for visitation from 12 p.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Eden Cemetery.
