CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday the Clearfield County Commissioners approved Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) modifications that will allow the Burnside Borough Community Building and Office to become more handicapped accessible.
According to Lisa Kovalick, community development specialist, Burnside Borough is in need of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access into its building/office. She added that it is a voting precinct for Burnside Borough citizens.
She said that this project will allow for the proper ramps to be installed outside of the building/office, along with sidewalks and ADA parking. On the inside, she said a lift will be installed in the foyer to allow access to the main floor and into the voting area.
Kovalick requested 2010 CDBG changes to modify the funding amount to the Troutville Borough lateral assistance project from $44,000 to $31,419 and to the Burnside Borough water filtration project from $5,400 to $2,958. She requested the addition of Burnside Borough ADA improvements in the amount of $15,062.07.
Kovalick also requested 2012 CBDG changes to modify the funding amount to the Osceola Mills Borough storm/sewer project from $46,330 to $8,631.51 and to add Burnside Borough ADA improvements in the amount of $11,443.93.
In other business, the commissioners approved contributing $7,500 in Act 13 funds to Decatur Township for upgrades to a traffic signal controller and for traffic-volume detection technology at the intersections of Route 322 and Irvin Drive and Route 322 and Route 53.
Supervisor Andy Rebar said that Decatur Township had received a $66,400 Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) grant and matched it with approximately $16,000. However, Rebar said the township received one bid, which came in $13,000 over budget for the project.
