Joseph C. Ralston Sr., 76, of Philipsburg died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Born Aug. 29, 1938 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Reuben and Catherine (Cambior) Ralston.
He married Mary Elizabeth (Perks) Wood-Ralston in Philipsburg. She resides at home.
Mr. Ralston was a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 1173 in Philipsburg, the AMVETS and the American Legion in Philipsburg. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and he had received his GED.
Along with his parents, Mr. Ralston was preceded in death by a son, Joseph C. Ralston Jr.; a sister, Mary Ellen Coughran and her husband, Robert; and a step-son, William Wood.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, June Ralston-Weidner and her husband, Fred Weidner of North East, Md., and Donna Ralston-Smolko and her husband, James Smolko of Erie and a son, John Ralston of Pittsburgh.
He is survived by two step-sons, Daniel Wood and his wife, Becky of Flemington and James Wood and his wife, Dottie of Philipsburg; two sisters, Anna Christian of North Carolina and Patricia Hornlein and her husband, Edward of East Brunswick, NJ; and two brothers, William Ralston and his wife, Carol of East Brunswick, NJ and James Ralston and his wife, Susan of Toms River, NJ.
He is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wood of Pine Grove Mills and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. W. Dean Krause officiating. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brisbin.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
