Hazel M. Proud, 88, of Clearfield went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
She was born May 13, 1927 in Lumber City, a daughter of the late David and Icie (Meckley) McCracken.
Mrs. Proud was a housekeeper and cleaned for numerous people and places around Clearfield, including CNB Bank.
She was a member of the Faith Bible Church, Lumber City, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. It was her enjoyment of singing that led her to organize hymn sings at local churches and nursing homes.
Mrs. Proud also looked forward to taking her camper to other Gospel sings. She also was known for her knowledge of her Bible and having a love of flowers that seemed to always bloom around her.
She is survived by five children, William Proud and his wife, Betsy of New York, Larry Proud and his wife, Sandra, Mary L. Daub, and Ella M. Knepp, all of Clearfield, and Rose Smith McLaughlin of Hyde.
She is survived by seven grandchildren; two step-granddaughters and a step-grandson, two great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons; a brother, Lynn McCracken and his wife, Ann of Curry Run; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Proud, in 1988 and to whom she was wed July 15, 1944 in Clearfield.
She was also preceded in death by an infant granddaughter and an infant grandson; two brothers, Oliver and Blair McCracken; a sister, Elizabeth Poole; an infant sister; and two sons-in-law, Jack Daub and Richard McLaughlin.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Faith Bible Church, 398 Grandview Rd., Curwensville, with the Rev. Harold Harry and the Rev. Scott Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Cemetery, Hyde.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Bible Church, 398 Grandview Rd., Curwensville.
