Obituary Notice: Boyd Wesley Kizer

Boyd Wesley Kizer, 96, of West Decatur died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at his residence.

Born Dec. 10, 1918 in (New Castle) RD Osceola Mills, he was the son of the late Raymond and Verna (Kephart) Kizer.

He married the former Pauline D. Bratton on Aug. 29, 1940 in Philipsburg. She survives at home.

Mr. Kizer was of the Protestant faith.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations (Okinawa).  He was a life member of the Osceola Mills VFW, Post No. 5020, and of the B.P.O. Elks, No. 1173, in Philipsburg.

He was first self-employed as a truck driver. He then worked as a mechanic for Pennsy Supply of Harrisburg until his retirement.

Along with his parents, Mr. Kizer was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence B. Kizer; a grandson, Douglas E. Kizer; three sisters, Beatrice Peters, Bertha Moyer and Leora Flick; a brother, Calvin Kizer; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Kizer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Judith L. Malloy and her husband, Albert “Bert” of Loretto; a son, Dennis C. Kizer of Mechanicsburg; 10 grandchildren, Doreen Kizer, Stacey Wisniewski, James Kizer, Roger Kizer, Perry Kizer, Kevin Cory, Trent Cory, Tina Myers, Ray Smith and Michelle Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, PA 16866.

Full military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
