Area Police Catch Car Thief, Recover Stolen Vehicle

DuBois-  The DuBois City Police and Lawrence Township Police Department aided in recovering a stolen vehicle on Wednesday.

According to the DuBois City Police Department, officers were dispatched to 600 Liberty Boulevard for a report of a stolen vehicle from the parking lot of a local establishment.   The caller reported having gone in to the business for only 30 to 45 minutes.  When he exited, he learned his 2015 Dodge Dart GT was stolen.

The owner reported having left the key fob in the vehicle allowing the man to start the vehicle and drive off.

The report states that the business had video surveillance cameras and officers could see a male suspect smash out three windows to gain access.

Surrounding police departments were then notified and a short time later the suspect and vehicle were located by the Lawrence Township Police. The man was taken into custody after resisting arrest.

He was transported to Clearfield County Jail to await charges of theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
