CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 22, 2015.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Melanie Hartman, age 23, of Forcey Road, PA.
Shaw stated that Hartman is wanted for failure to appear at Plea and Sentencing Court on September 23, 2014.
On July 14, 2014, Patrolman Nathan Curry of the Clearfield Borough Police Department, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Hartman with: 1) Access Device Fraud, M1; and 2) Receiving Stolen Property, M1.
An Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Patrolman Curry states that on July 5, 2014, Clearfield Borough Police were dispatched for a report of a theft from a motor vehicle . The victim related that someone had removed cash and the victim’s wallet containing a check card and other personal items. Upon investigation, it was determined that Hartman, and other individuals, used the victim’s check card to make several purchases and were declined in other attempted purchases.
A Preliminary Hearing was scheduled for July 23, 2014, at which time the charges were held to court. On September 23, 2014, Hartman failed to appear at Plea and Sentencing Court.
Hartman is described as a white famale, approximately 5′ 1″ with blue eyes and brown hair.
