IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Chad Zurat emerged from the first start of his brief professional baseball career with a win and a 0.00 earned run average Friday night.
The 6-2, 215-pound right-hander from Clearfield pitched five innings and departed with the Grand Junction Rockies leading 11-4 on their way to a 16-12 victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars in front of 2,258 fans at Melaleuca Field.
All four runs the Chukars scored off Zurat in the Pioneer Short-Season Class A League game were unearned.
He struck out two, walked none and gave up 10 hits, all singles.
Zurat was 1-0 in 10 relief appearances for the Tri-City Dust Devils in the Northwest Short-Season Class A League last year.
Grand Junction is 2-0 for the third season in a row.
