Obituary Notice: Eugene H. Smith

euegene smithEugene H. Smith, 74, of Frenchville passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College after his heroic battle with cancer.

Eugene was born on August 9, 1940 in Colver, PA. the son of Eugene and Virginia(Aughenbaugh) Smith and was raised by his adoptive parents, James and Frances Rougeux.

He was a member of Riverview Bible Church of Clearfield.

He was employed for many years as an insurance agent with Baltimore Life. He had a passion for his family, camping, fishing and woodworking.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte R. (Wisor) Smith whom he married May 28, 1960; four children, Randy Eugene Smith and his husband Lawrence Votta of Miami Beach, FL, Robin L. Shaw of Indiana, PA, Rhonda R. Uttam and her husband Mike of Powell, OH, and Michael R. Smith of Frenchville, four grandchildren;  Callie, Lauren, Sidney and Noah, and seven siblings; Violet Shugarts, Sandra Kuhn, Helen Ferguson, Robert Smith, William Smith, Donald Smith and David Smith and his birth mother Virginia Smith of Indiana, PA.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, his birth father, twin grandsons; Lucas Hiland and Zachary Daniel Shaw and a sister, Barbara Shirey.

Funeral services will be held at Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Eveleth officiating. Interment will be at Eden Cemetery, Shawville.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
