Gabler to Attend Army Officer Professional Training

DUBOIS – State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) will travel to San Antonio, Texas this weekend to begin the next level of his officer development training with the U.S. Army.

Gabler, who currently serves as a captain with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, will be attending the two-week Reserve Component Captain’s Career Course, a required course and a prerequisite for promotion to the rank of major.

“The course is offered once a year, and is always held during the month of June,” Gabler said. “This level of professional development training is the next required step in an Army officer’s career.”

Following his graduation from Bucknell University in 2006, Gabler was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve. He served as commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 424th Multifunctional Medical Battalion before transferring to the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and becoming a medical logistics officer with the Headquarters, 28th Infantry Division.

“I’m looking forward to this opportunity to further develop my leadership and technical skills, and as a way of further strengthening my commitment to serving our country,” added Gabler.

“While I’m away, I have great faith in the abilities of my staff members in DuBois, St. Marys and Clearfield, to handle state government issues and continue serving the residents of the 75th District until I am off military orders.”
