Velma Owens, 80, of Clearfield died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield. Mrs. Owens was born Feb. 21, 1935 in LeContes Mills, the daughter of Reynolds J. and Alta (Jury) Lingle.
She had retired from The Progress after 40 years of service. Mrs. Owens was a member of the Mount Joy United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Gary T. Owens and his wife, Maureen of Gaithersburg, Md.; four grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Brian and Kathleen Owens; four sisters, Rose Eaker and her husband, Keith of Austell, Ga., Jeannette Maines of Curwensville, Nellie Lope of Clearfield and Margie Hummel and her husband, Darrel of Frenchville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas Allen Owens. He died Jan. 15, 1969. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen Leigey, Mary Maines and Daisy Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
