Miss Julia Rothrock Potts of Clearfield passed from this life on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Betsy Lezzer surrounded by family.

She was born Aug. 14, 1937, the daughter of the late David B. and Grayce E. Potts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Kenneth L. Lezzer.

She is survived by her sisters, Betsy Lezzer of Curwensville and Marty (Jack) Eshelman of Buckhannon, W.Va., and her brothers, William D. Potts of New York, NY and John (Nancy) Potts and Timothy (Karen) Potts, both of Clearfield.

Also surviving are her nieces, Linda (Scott) Moore of Rockton; Julie (Chuck) Seighman of State College; Diane (Tim) Holland of Curwensville; Kelly (Tom) Williams of Beckley, W.Va.; Kerri (Scott) Shepherd of Buckhannon, W.Va.; and Susan (Jon) Mikesell and Becky (Andy) Brickley, both of Clearfield.

Her Surviving nephews are KC (Amy) Lezzer of Clearfield; Kevin Eshelman of Buckhannon, W.Va.; David (Lisa) Potts of Hyannis Port, Mass.; and Daniel (Stephanie) Potts of Hope Valley, RI. In addition, she is survived by 11 great-nieces, 16 great-nephews; and four great-great-nieces.

A graduate of Clearfield Area High School with the class of 1955, she was employed by Lezzer Lumber Co. for more than 42 years and retiring in May of 1999.

She served her community in many ways. She was a long-time member and director emeritus of the Clearfield Children’s Aid Society. She was on the board of the Curwensville Library.

Her activities also included the Literacy Volunteers, the Habitat for Humanity and the Clearfield Historical Society.

She was a member of the St. Timothy’s Catholic Church of Curwensville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Clearfield Children’s Aid Society, the Curwensville Library, the Clearfield Historical Society, the Penn Highland Hospice-Clearfield program or a charity of the donor’s choice.

There will be a memorial gathering of family and friends from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Timothy’s Church in Curwensville with the Rev. Father Mark J. Mastrain as celebrant.

Her request for cremation will be honored and her cremains will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.
