Dorothy Eleanor Sykes, 89, of Karthaus died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her residence.
Born May 9, 1926 in Karthaus Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Narehood) Hodge.
Mrs. Sykes was of the Catholic faith. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Sykes was a graduate of the former Cooper Township High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and 13 brothers.
She is survived by a daughter, Betsy A. McCann and her husband, Dennis of Karthaus; a son, John F. Sykes of Lancaster, Calif.; a sister, Carol Lion and her husband, Wendell of St. Mary’s; and two brothers, Richard Hodge and his wife, Jean of Williamsport and Earl Hodge and his wife, Margy of Ohio.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Joel Porter and his wife, Mindy of Mineral Springs; Russell Sykes and his wife, Vanessa of Gainesville, Ga.; Ellie Ross and her husband, Mike of Fayetteville, NC; Kirsten McKee and her companion, Mark Hoopsick of Clearfield; Eddie McKee and his wife, Nichole of Katy, Texas; Brian McCann of Bellefonte; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Guenot Cemetery (New Garden) Pottersdale.
There will be no public visitation.
