DUBOIS – On Tuesday night, local Eagle Scout William Boyle invited members of the DuBois City Council to attend bridge dedications on June 8.

The bridges, which are along the walkway, have been a part of Boyle’s ongoing Eagle Scout project for the last few months.  He said that signs will be revealed dedicating the bridges in memoriam.

In other business, DuBois Volunteer Fire Chief Bill Boyle issued his monthly report.  He said that there were 22 calls in April.

Councilwoman Diane Bernardo asked Boyle if the fire department tracked structure fires differently for owned residences versus rental properties.

Boyle said that at a certain level a reporting differentiation is kept but not in the general reporting to the council.

“We have properties that burn, and they don’t have insurance.  We are looking at some laws to take away the burden from the taxpayers of DuBois and put it where it belongs,” said Bernardo.

Councilmen Jim Aughenbaugh and Randy Schmidt were excused from this meeting.
