BOGGS TOWNSHIP – A 43-year-old Woodland woman, Melanie K. Hummel, was killed in an accident Thursday on Route 322 in Boggs Township, reported the state police at Clearfield.
According to the report, Hummel was traveling west while Samuel C. Frantz, 59, of Tyrone was traveling east in his tri-axle truck. Hummel’s vehicle crossed into the path of the Frantz truck.
Frantz attempted to steer his truck to the right to avoid a collision with Hummel’s vehicle. However, the Hummel vehicle crashed into the front portion of the Frantz truck. Hummel was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Morris Township, Columbia, Hope and Rescue fire companies, Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services, STAT MedEvac and the state Department of Transportation.
