Sylvester Paul Smeal, 85, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Philipsburg. Born Oct. 23, 1929 in Morrisdale, he was the son of the late Isaac C. and Leona G. Kephart Smeal.
Mr. Smeal was a resident of Windy Hill Village of Presbyterian Home, Philipsburg, and formerly of Hawk Run. He went home to be with the Lord and Savior. Mr. Smeal was Christian by faith.
He was a veteran of the Korean War; he served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Corning Glass in State College.
He was married to Alice Marie Chaffee Smeal. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2012.
Mr. Smeal is survived by two daughters, Rhonda L. Davis and her husband, Raymond of Ramey and Beth Ann Dale and her husband, Clark of Kylertown and two sons, Robert P. Smeal and his wife Sun Ja of Clarksville, Tenn., and Michael E. Smeal of Morrisdale.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Zachary Davis, Katie Davis, Alyssa Dale, Christopher Smeal, Jacob Dale and Matthew Smeal and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bert Smeal, Myrle Smeal, Guy Smeal and Wesley Smeal and seven sisters, Dorothy Rothrock, Yvonne Means, Ivera Ellis, Irene Flegal, Minerva Jones, Leona Merrow and Eva Moriarty.
There will not be any public visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
