CLEARFIELD – State Sen. John Wozniak, D-35 of Johnstown, recently visited Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Wozniak met with hospital leadership and discussed the challenges facing healthcare providers, especially rural hospitals such as Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He also learned about Penn Highlands Clearfield’s plans for the future, which include adding more healthcare providers, a new pain clinic, a new outpatient diagnostic center and walk-in clinic on the Clearfield campus, a new outpatient medical building in Moshannon Valley and updates to the emergency department, among others.

Hospital President Gary Macioce explained to Wozniak how these initiatives will help to redefine the hospital’s mission, improve customer service, enhance quality and increase access to care.

Here, Wozniak, right, is greeted by Jonathan Buck, director, clinical informatics, during a tour of the new extensive care unit. At left are Becca Ward, public relations intern, and Macioce.
