In the end, the fan favorite won.
Sawyer Fredericks, the long-haired 16-year-old never seen without his hat, was crowned the winner of “The Voice” on Tuesday night.
It was the first victory for coach Pharrell, who proudly congratulated his latest protege when season 8 came to an end.
Pharrell had two contestants in the final four, versus one each for Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
In addition to the buildup for the announcement of the winner, the coaches (including Christina Aguilera, giving it her all) paid tribute to the late B.B. King with a performance of “The Thrill is Gone.”
Fans also got to witness Aguilera’s memorable impressions of fellow performers including Miley Cyrus, Cher and Britney Spears.
Winner Fredericks already had a video for his single “Please,” which he debuted during the show’s final. The song was written by Fredericks’ idol, singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne.
