DUBOIS – Two public hearings preceded the Sandy Township Supervisors’ meeting on Monday night.
The first public hearing was in regards to the consolidation of two lots in Treasure Lake at the request of William Umbaugh.
The second public hearing was in regards to the transfer of a liquor license to the El Paso in Sandy Township.
The El Paso is located at the former Kentucky Fried Chicken. It sought the transfer from Don Patron Mexican Grill LLC in DuBois City.
The supervisors didn’t hear or receive any objections during the hearings. Both items were approved during the supervisors’ regular meeting.
The supervisors and Township Manager Dave Monella thanked the police and fire chiefs for their service at the recent Cayman Landing fire in Treasure Lake.
Township officials not only commended crews for keeping the fire contained, but also for quickly apprehending the two suspects who set the fire.
The supervisors also noted that the spring clean-up was a success. Sandy Township Zoning/Code Enforcement Officer and Planning Commission Director Jim Keck reported that there were seven dumpsters filled, more than 400 tires collected and 207 electronic devices turned in during the clean-up.
The supervisors announced that an additional clean-up day is being planned for the fall.
Supervisor Dave Sylvis was excused from the meeting.
