PSP: Man Taken to Hospital after Accidentally Shooting Himself in the Leg

RUSH TOWNSHIP – The investigation is continuing into an incident in which a 23-year-old Port Matilda man was wounded when a firearm discharged in a vehicle Friday in the area of Cassanova Road in Rush Township, reported the state police at Philipsburg.

According to the report, the victim was traveling southeast on Cassanova Road towards the Black Moshannon State Park. State police believed he was handling a firearm inside his vehicle, and it accidentally discharged and wounded his leg.

While another occupant of the vehicle attempted to transport him to the hospital, they wrecked near the Black Moshannon State Park. The victim was transported to Altoona and then to a Pittsburgh hospital for further medical treatment, state police said.
