CLEARFIELD – A Curwensville woman accused of tying up a man and assaulting him with a screwdriver and a pair of scissors waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during Centralized Court at the Clearfield County Jail.
Carlea Marie Patterson, 35, of Curwensville has been charged with terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault and harassment. Patterson’s bail was modified from $25,000 monetary to unsecured at her hearing.
The charges stem from an alleged incident that occurred between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. May 4. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Patterson allegedly tied up the victim with an extension cord and assaulted him inside her Curwensville Borough apartment.
While the victim was tied up on her bed, Patterson allegedly hit him on the head with a lamp. She allegedly ripped his earrings from each ear and piercings from his body with a screwdriver.
Patterson allegedly used a pair of scissors to carve a name into the victim’s right arm and left leg. She allegedly scratched his face several times with scissors. Then, Patterson allegedly inserted a flat-headed screwdriver into the victim’s private area.
Later, Patterson untied the victim. She allegedly told the victim that, “You’re gonna slice my throat, or else I’m gonna slice yours and kill you.”
According to the affidavit, the alleged victim escaped from Patterson’s apartment and used a male’s cellular phone to call for a ride. He proceeded to a local store to hide from Patterson and to wait for his ride.
The alleged victim was transported to his residence and then by ambulance to the hospital for medical treatment.
