Shirley C. Nyman, 72, of Houtzdale died Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Dec. 10, 1942 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of Evelyn L. (Mills) Emel of Bellefonte and the late Arthur D. Emel.
She was employed by Centre Engineering Inc. of State College until her retirement.
She is survived by four sons, Ralph L. Emel of Janesville, Walter J. Nyman of Erie, Arthur D. Nyman of Morrisdale and Randell S. Nyman of Houtzdale and a daughter, Terry Nyman Blake and her husband, Kevin of Houtzdale.
She is survived by seven grandchildren, Tommy J. Nyman of Las Vegas, Donann Myers of Brisbin, Ashley Nyman of Nebraska, Christopher Nyman of Ohio, Amber, Blake of Houtzdale, Caden Nyman of Kylertown and Trevor Emel of Smithmill and a great-granddaughter, Paige Davis of Brisbin.
Also surviving are three brothers, Melvin, Kenneth and John Emel of Bellefonte and three sisters, Evelyn Reese of Bellefonte, Deborah Long of Spring Mills and Theresa Emel of Lock Haven.
She was preceded in death by her father; two sisters, Ruth Ann Emel and Carol May Emel; and a brother, Ralph L. Emel.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, with Pastor Kevin Howard officiating.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., 200 David St., Houtzdale, PA 16651 to defray funeral expenses.
