Betty Jean Leonard, 91, of Johnstown and formerly of Curwensville, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital in Johnstown after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1924 in Lumber City, she was the daughter of Howard and Marguerite (Hipps) McCully.
Mrs. Leonard was a homemaker. She had worked as a seamstress for the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville. She also had been a hygienist for Dr. Williams.
She was United Methodist by faith.
She had wed George A. Leonard on Aug. 7, 1943 in Curwensville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harrington McCully and a sister, Barbara Johnson.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra Wise and her husband, Robert Jr. of Johnstown, a grandson, Robert L. Wise III and his wife, K.C. of Pittsburgh and a great-grandson, Alex Wise. Also surviving are a brother, Keith McCully and his wife, Almeda of Washington, Pa., and a sister, Delphine Williams of Akron, Ohio.
There will be no public visitation and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Burial will be in the Lumber City Cemetery, Lumber City.
