Changing minds, one step at a time, with the 5K Run/Walk for Wellness
AUSTIN – Lace up those sneakers and walk or run at the inaugural 5K Run/Walk for Wellness on May 17, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Participants will enjoy the Sinnemahoning State Park and the benefits of the outdoors while supporting Dickinson Center’s mission to promote mental wellness.
Sponsored by Dickinson Center Inc. and Sinnemahoning State Park, the event will be held at the Park Office & Wildlife Center located at 4843 Park Dr., Austin, and will feature a 5K race and wellness walk, a one-mile nature hike and a mental wellness fair.
Participants, family and friends can learn the importance of mental wellness and discover new ways of taking care of the body, mind and soul at the wellness fair.
Dickinson Center, plus other local businesses and organizations that promote healthy and active living, will have staff and volunteers available throughout the event to answer questions and discuss ways to improve your mental well-being.
Registration after is $15 per person and event T-shirts are not guaranteed. Race-day registration begins at 12 p.m. at the Park Office & Wildlife Center. The race will begin for both runners and walkers at 1 p.m.
Awards will be given to the first overall female and male finisher and the Top 3 in each of the following age groups: 12-under, 13-19, 20-39, 40-59 and 60-over. All participants will receive a participation certificate.
Proceeds from the event will be used to promote mental wellness in the local area.
