Ortiz Arrested for Skateboarding on PSU DuBois Walls, Landscaping

DUBOIS – Penn State University Police at the DuBois Campus have arrested a 30-year-old Georgia man, Luis Ortiz, for disorderly conduct after an alleged skateboarding incident on campus.

Campus police received a complaint about a man who was allegedly skateboarding on campus walls and landscaping in the Schoch Plaza.  Police made contact with the man who was identified as Ortiz.

Upon investigation police learned that Ortiz was wanted out of Florida. Before being able to confirm the nature of the charges in Florida and status of his extradition, Ortiz fled on foot from police.

After a short foot pursuit, Ortiz was taken into custody on the railroad tracks on East Dubois Avenue in front of Best Western Hotel.  The pursuit ended when Ortiz tripped over the tracks landing face first, police said.

Ortiz was placed in the city lock-up. A short time later, police learned his Florida warrant was for DUI, and he wouldn’t be extradited. Ortiz was cited for disorderly conduct and released.  Campus police were assisted by Dubois City and Sandy Township police.
