State police at Clearfield
- An accident occurred Tuesday on U.S. Route 322 near McDowell Road. Jon P. Bannon of Clearfield was traveling east when he swerved and his vehicle collided with the guiderail, causing disabling damage. Bannon didn’t report any injuries; his vehicle was towed from the scene, state police said.
- An incident of disorderly conduct occurred Tuesday at the Philipsburg-Osceola Middle School in Chester Hill Borough. During the incident, a juvenile male allegedly left the school after swearing at his teacher. State police were notified to search for the juvenile who returned home after several hours. Charges were filed through the district court, state police said.
- An incident of burglary occurred sometime between November of 2014 and Tuesday on Elizabeth Street in Beccaria Township. During the incident, someone allegedly removed three firearms that belonged to the victim. The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Clearfield at 814-857-3800.
- An incident of harassment occurred Tuesday on Ida Street in Woodward Township. During the incident, a 38-year-old Houtzdale man allegedly engaged in a verbal and physical altercation with the victim. He allegedly struck the victim in the head several times with a closed fist. Charges are being filed through the district court, state police said.
State police at Philipsburg
- A domestic violence incident was reported April 11 on Ernestville Road in Rush Township. Upon arrival state police determined there wasn’t a domestic violence incident. However, state police determined the accused violated an active protection from abuse order. The accused was taken into custody with his bail being set at $10,000, state police said.
- An incident of criminal mischief occurred Tuesday on the Tyrone Pike in Rush Township. During the incident, someone allegedly struck the victim’s mailbox, which caused damage to it. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Philipsburg at 814-342-3370.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about an alleged phone scam from a Hyde resident.
- Police received a report about a possible abandoned vehicle at the church in O’Shanter.
- Police received a report about an accident and determined it had occurred in the borough.
- Police received a civil complaint over personal property.
- Police checked a residence for suspicious activity and determined everything to be OK.
- Police received an animal complaint that occurred in Hyde.
Curwensville Borough
- Police allegedly found two Curwensville students with drugs and paraphernalia Tuesday.
- Police contacted Children & Youth Services after a report about a young child allegedly wandering alone in a shirt and diaper on George Street off of Ridge Avenue. In addition to the child wandering off, police indicated there were allegedly safety hazards in the home. The incident remains under investigation at this time, police said.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of harassment Tuesday. The incident was unfounded, police said.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about an open door at a vacant house Monday on South Highland Street. Further, a resident was concerned for the safety of the neighborhood and notified police of the open door. Police checked the house and did not find anyone inside. Police notified code enforcement to secure the house.
- On Monday, police received a report about an alleged incident of fraud from a South State Street resident. She had allegedly purchased a used cell phone that was to be on a national carrier. When she attempted to activate the phone, she learned it was not able to be connected. After an investigation, police determined the matter was civil in nature and referred the female to the magistrate’s office.
- Police were dispatched to an accident Monday in the 600 block of DuBois Street. Upon arrival police learned that a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old DuBois man had backed into another driven by a 23-year-old Falls Creek woman. When the man attempted to exchange information the woman refused it and demanded money. When the man refused and stated he’d call police, the woman left the area. She was located a short time later and interviewed by police.
- On Monday, police received a report from a North Fourth Street resident regarding a suspicious letter from the State Correctional Institution at Mercer that had been delivered to his residence by the U.S. Postal Service. The name and address on the letter was not that of the DuBois resident; the letter was turned over to SCI Mercer and postal authorities to further investigate it, police said.
- On Monday, police were dispatched to East Park Avenue for a hit-and-run into a commercial building. Upon arrival police interviewed the owner and witnesses to the accident. After a brief investigation, police determined the management of the vehicle was at the scene and had accepted responsibility for the damages.
- Police were dispatched Monday to the Fourth Ward area of DuBois for a sighting of a bear roaming the neighborhood. Upon arrival police were unable to locate the bear. No injuries or damages were reported, police said.
