Jeb Bush will visit Europe in early June, stopping in Germany, Poland and Estonia, according to an aide to the former Florida governor.
News of the trip, first reported by Reuters, comes as Bush prepares for a likely presidential bid.
Bush’s brother, former President George W. Bush, supported expanding NATO during his first-term to include Estonia and other Eastern European countries. The country became a member in 2004, and Bush visited the Baltic state in 2006.
Other potential presidential contenders are also making overseas trips to help bolster their foreign policy credentials as national security takes top billing. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and threats posed by ISIS have dominated the political conversation for months.
Bush has been a sharp critic of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy, saying the President has weakened the United States’ power in the world.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker traveled to Europe earlier this month for a trade mission, two months after he visited the United Kingdom in February. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also visited London two months ago.
