Clearfield Revitalization Corp. Announces Event Schedule

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) has announced its 2015 event schedule.

May 1, Spring is Brewing on Main Street

The CRC will hold its first-ever “Spring is Brewing Tour” in downtown Clearfield on May 1. The CRC wants to encourage shopping at local businesses in bringing back the hustle and bustle in downtown Clearfield with a sampling of craft beer.

A Home Brewer’s Competition with People’s Choice Awards will be a part of the event to see who has the most creative homebrew recipe. It will be held from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. in downtown Clearfield; the after party will be from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. at the Clearfield Elks.

May 16, Downtown Beautification Day

The CRC is partnering with local volunteer groups and businesses to weed and tidy up the tree boxes in downtown Clearfield, as well as to plant flowers, mulch and to clean up the sidewalks. Patriotic decorations will be installed, as well. Beautification Day will start at 10 a.m. May 16 at the Clearfield County Courthouse. The rain date is scheduled for May 17.

June 27, Bloom and Berry Bash & The Rubber Duck Derby

The CRC will hold its summer bash in the streets of downtown Clearfield on June 27. Attendees will be able to browse through craft vendors, farmers markets and businesses.

Also, attendees will be able to partake in a pie-eating contest, plus splurge on fun foods and cool off with berry-inspired drinks and recipes galore.

Vendor applications will be accepted through June 5.

The “Rubber Duck Derby” will have a cash prize of $500. Each ticket costs $5 and will earn the holder one duck in the race.

The ducks are awaiting the chance to be the first across the finish line to win their ticketholder a $500 cash prize. Ticketholders do not need to be present to win.

Only 500 tickets will be sold for the derby. The first 100 children at the race will receive a souvenir rubber duck. Duck Derby tickets can be purchased online at www.DiscoverClearfield.com or by contacting the CRC office.

Each rubber duck will take to the water on June 27 as part of the CRC Bloom and Berry Bash to race down the West Branch of the Susquehanna River to Lower Witmer Park. It will begin at 1:15 p.m. at the park.

The goal of the event is to raise funds for downtown improvement efforts by the CRC. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Clearfield Fire Department.

The Clearfield Fire Department will host a Battle of the Barrel competition in Lower Witmer Park after the Rubber Duck Derby.

July 16, Potter Baseball Community Service Day

The traveling Potter Baseball team will be back in Clearfield to work on a community service project at Lower Witmer Park on July 16. Team members will refurbish the gazebo and picnic area at Lower Witmer Park. If you would like to help out with products or services for this community service project, please contact the CRC.

Oct. 10, 5K Pumpkin Run & Fall Festival

The CRC will hold its fifth annual 5K Pumpkin Run & Fall Festival on Oct. 10. The race starts the day at 8:30 a.m. and the festival immediately after on the streets of downtown Clearfield from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

There will be live entertainment, a Classic Car Show, sidewalk sales and children’s activities, plus craft vendors will fill Market and Third streets.

Attendees can fill up on fall foods and ciders, and bring the family to enjoy this day in Clearfield.

Nov. 20, Holiday Light-Up Night Celebration

The CRC will hold a Light-Up the Night Celebration from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Nov. 20 in downtown Clearfield for the official kickoff of the holiday season. Attendees may bring a homemade ornament to be placed on the holiday tree located in Clearfield County Courthouse Plaza.

Dec. 4, Taste of the Town Spirit Tour

The CRC will hold its fifth annual Taste of the Town Spirit Tour on Dec. 4 in downtown Clearfield.

Participants will shop local businesses, browse local art and sample local wine, and all to the sounds of Christmas carolers.

The wine tour will take place from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. A registration fee includes a souvenir wine glass, identification check and wristband.
