Preparation and Response Presentation
DuBois Best Western
On Friday, April 17, the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce · Economic Development will host the Protective Security Advisor for the Department of Homeland Security who will speak on the “Active Shooter: Preparation and Response Presentation.”

Dynamics of Fly-casting, Parker Dam

Looking to learn the basics of fly-casting, or to revamp your skills? Dynamics of Fly-casting is a great way to do just that. The viewer will learn the important elements of great casting, vital hand and arm movements, practice routines that teach how to make almost all kinds of casts, along with some special tips. Comedy Event
St. Charles Café
On Friday, the Clearfield YMCA will present an evening of stand-up comedy at the St. Charles Café ballroom.
The headliner is Paul Venier, who is also known as “the one man comedy tornado.” His act is filled with loads of music (keyboards and guitar), props, costumes and lots of audience participation delivered at 100 miles an hour that will leave you gasping for air.
Venier has appeared on The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, HBO, MTV and Showtime. He has also worked side by side with Jay Leno, Don Rickles, Howie Mandell and many others. Venier is a regular at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City and Las Vegas.
This is an adult only comedy show for those who are 21 years of age and older. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 p.m.
There will only be advance tickets available. Admission will include the comedy show, hors d’ oeuvres and banquet beer.
The comedy show will support the Clearfield YMCA’s scholarship fund. The fund is used to allocate memberships and programs to people who need financial assistance.

Clean-Up Weekend
Curwensville Lake
A spring clean-up will take place Saturday, April 18 at the Curwensville Lake.
Campers can arrive Friday, April 17 and depart Sunday, April 19 free of charge. To do so, campers must participate in the clean-up Saturday, April 18. All sites for the weekend are free of charge, excluding the cabins.
Campers are encouraged to bring a covered dish for lunch on Saturday.
Individuals or groups can also just show up to participate at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 18. Rakes and leaf blowers are needed.

The Brady Township Board of Park & Recreation will present the first-ever Wine on the Hill event from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18. It will be held at the Brady Township Community Center in Luthersburg.
Lion Wine and Cheese Auction
Lifetime Celebrations
The eighth annual Lion Wine and Cheese fundraiser to support Penn State DuBois Athletics is planned for 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Lifetime Celebrations in DuBois.
Sponsored by the DuBois Educational Foundation, the event will feature wine and cheese tasting, craft beer tasting, heavy hors d’oeuvres and dessert. Live and silent auctions, raffles and other games of chance will also be held.
Numerous businesses and individuals in DuBois and the surrounding areas have donated prizes and auction items to the event. Up for grabs are items, including autographed professional sports jerseys, tickets to professional sports and performing arts events, autographed prints of professional athletes and more.

Spring Nature Art Show
Winkler Gallery
The Friends of the Library will participate in the Winkler Gallery Spring Nature Art Show on Saturday, April 18 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. The FOTL, along with the Down to Earth Garden Club, will provide information on plants and gardening by answering questions and highlighting books from the DuBois Public Library.
Gardening products that can be purchased locally will also be on display and a special guest will offer attendees the opportunity to win a garden-themed basket door prize. FOTL newsletters as well as membership forms will be available.
