PennDOT and Law Enforcement Highlight Dangers of Distracted Driving

CURWENSVILLE – As part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, PennDOT, the Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement gave an ‘End Distracted Driving’ presentation this week to Curwensville’s 12th grade students.

Joel Feldman created EndDD.org, its interactive presentation aimed at changing driving habits to honor the memory of his daughter, Casey, who was 21 years old when she was killed by a distracted driver.

Students learned the dangers and risks involved with driving while distracted along or riding with someone who may not be fully attentive. Law enforcement urged students to drive distraction free, while also focusing on the state’s law banning text-based communication while driving.

Various types of driving distractions discussed included; talking on a cell phone or texting, eating, grooming, adjusting the radio or GPS and interacting with other passengers in the vehicle.
