Baby announcement goes viral

Happy Valley, OR (KPTV) — If you haven’t seen this local couple’s take on announcing they’re expecting, you’re missing out.

The Meeks posted their rap to YouTube a few days back, on April 5.

Their video went from about 107,000 views on Saturday night to nearly 640,000 views by Monday.

“It was completely unexpected. Like, that was the last thing we thought would happen, that it would blow up to what it had, or what it has,” Mellisa said.

The Meeks tell FOX 12 they shot the video on a cell phone in just five takes.

They put the video up as a fun way to tell distant family and friends about their family’s newest addition.

“So we said let’s do a song, or a rap, think of something to do,” Mellisa said. “And I just started playing around with some words and the Fresh Prince tune kept coming to mind and then Jesse said he was doing the same thing and the same tune was coming to his mind.”

The Meeks said they might even come out with a sequel when they learn the baby’s gender.

Congratulations, Jesse and Mellisa!
