North Charleston, SC (WHNS) — A vigil was held Sunday on the grounds where Walter Scott lost his life after being shot by a police officer in North Charleston.
Denise Cromwell, a family friend of Walter Scott, said his mother has forgiven the police officer who ended her son’s life.
“I’ve known her since I was a little girl so I know what type of person she is, I know what type of spirit mind she has that she instilled in everyone she meets and she has forgiven him,” said Cromwell.
Reverend Al Sharpton was also at the vigil in the low country and spoke about Scott’s death.
“Any attempt at division will not work, this brother could have been anyone of us, anyone of our sons, anyone of our cousins,” said Reverend Sharpton.
