CLINTON COUNTY SPOTLIGHT

Clinton County was created on June 21, 1839 from parts of Centre and Lycom­ing Counties. As of the 2010 Census, the county’s population was 39,238, with its county seat located in the borough of Lock Haven.

The county was named in honor of the seventh governor of New York State, De­Witt Clinton.
