CLEARFIELD – Staff members at Visit Clearfield County (VCC) have announced the weekly events for April 10-16.

Ritz Theater, downtown Clearfield

Monday-Sunday

The theater’s lobby opens at 6:30 p.m. You can grab some popcorn, even if you cannot attend the movie showings. For movies and show times, please call 814-765-5835.

Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children (12 years and under) and senior citizens (60 years and older).

Paper Crafting Retreat

Mahaffey Camp

The Mahaffey Camp’s Paper Crafter’s Retreat will be held Friday, April 10 beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing through Saturday, April 11 until at 6:30 p.m.  Door prizes will be awarded and each attendee will receive a goody bag filled with useful products.  Several vendors will be present at the retreat offering mini demos and workshops, as well as selling the latest cropping supplies. Tri-County Career Fair

DuBois Mall

The Tri-County Career Fair will take place on April 10 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the DuBois Mall. Some of the participating organizations will offer training and educational opportunities for a career change, a new job or to get the skills for a better career. Girls Night Out

Clarion Hotel

On Friday, April 10, the “Girls Night Out ViVi Social & Jewelry Swap” will benefit the Relay for Life of DuBois. You can come out for a relaxing night of fun with your girlfriends, mothers, sisters and daughters. The event will be held from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Cougar’s Restaurant and Lounge inside the Clarion Hotel. The Clarion Hotel is located at 1896 Rich Hwy., DuBois.

Meet 7:45 p.m. – Tyler Cabin

The American Woodcock, aka “Timberdoodle,” puts on a fancy flight in the spring of the year when trying to attract a mate. This can be seen fairly up close and personal if you know how and when to get close. Meet at the Tyler Cabin (previously “Camp Shawnee” or the “Cabin Classroom”) to learn more and hopefully see this display. Parker Dam State Park is located at 28 Fairview Rd., Penfield. Hose-Down

DuBois

The DuBois Fire Companies will conduct their annual “Hose-Down” on Long Avenue and Brady Street around 8 p.m. Friday.

The “Hose-Down” is being done in conjunction with the Community Spring Clean-Up the following day, which starts at DuBois City Park.

There will not be any street parking on Long Avenue between Main and Brady streets from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Also, Brady Street from Park to Washington avenue) will be blocked off and traffic re-routed.

Businesses and property owners will need to have the gravel swept from in front of their buildings in order to allow the firefighters to do their jobs with the water.

The firefighters clean the street and the sidewalks during their “Hose-Down” event.

Taste of Tri Counties

Clearfield County Fairgrounds

You can come out to the Clearfield County Fairgrounds for the Taste of the Tri-Counties. It will feature The Winery at Wilcox, Q102 and more. You can try one of the many food specialties and sample from other businesses.  Also, you will be able to enjoy the band “Six Pack” during the event, which is being held from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Expo II Building. Curwensville Clean-up

You can volunteer with the Great American Clean-up of Pennsylvania in downtown Curwensville on Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Groups and individuals are welcome to participate in the clean-up.

Safety vests, gloves and bags are provided; please bring your brooms, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrow or muck buckets. Limited rakes, shovels and brooms will be provided.

Volunteers should meet at the Susquehanna Community Church, 509 Filbert St., Curwensville. The youth group will provide breakfast to all volunteers, beginning at 7 a.m.

Northwest Savings Bank will provide bottled water and parking during business and clean-up hours.

Statewide Mentored Youth Fishing Day

Saturday, April 11 is a statewide Mentored Youth Fishing Day. For more information, please go to the state Fish and Boat Commission Web site.

DuBois Community Spring Clean-Up

The Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group (DDRG) has announced plans for the 12th annual Community Spring Clean-up being held Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Sign-in is at the DuBois City Park.

The clean-up is a multi-municipal effort with groups, businesses and individuals from all around the area.  Organizers would like to note that the event is officially registered as part of the “Great American Clean-up of Pennsylvania” and “Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.”

These programs work with PennDOT and the Adopt-a-Highway programs, which provide supplies and guidance to registered clean-up groups.  You can pick your own area to clean or you can be assigned an area.

Oftentimes conservation and waterways groups participate as well to tie into the larger group.

A highlight of each year’s activities is lunch for all registered participants donated by a huge array of area restaurants, merchants and churches.  Each year upwards of 200 people of all age groups participate.

Benefit Concert

Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre

On Saturday, April 11, at 7 p.m., the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre will showcase three bands composed of local youth as they present a benefit performance for the CAST.  The benefit concert will feature Almost Adults, Twin Reverb and ChristFirst.

Admission to this event is $5.  Seats are not reserved so those attending may sit where they choose.  Tickets can be reserved by calling the CAST office at 814-765-4474.  Tickets will be available at the box office show night.  The box office will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.

The CAST is the area’s non-profit entertainment center and is located at 112 E. Locust St. in downtown Clearfield.

To Opera with Love

Treasure Lake

Remember how you laughed till your sides ached while watching Bob Hope, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis? Join us for a night of laughter as the Lakeview Lodge presents “To Opera with Love,” Saturday, April 11 at 7 p.m.  This smash hit has delighted audiences across the United States and Canada. Tickets are $12 at the Treasure Lake office. Limited seating is available; it is open to the public. Treasure Lake is located in DuBois.

Steelers Footballers Basketball Game

The Steelers are coming back to DuBois on Saturday, April 11 at the DuBois Middle School. The Steelers Footballers Basketball team will play the DuBois Area United Way All-stars. The pre-game is a match-up between the coaches of DuBois Area High School and DuBois Central Catholic at 7 p.m. The Steelers will play at 8 p.m.
