Virginia Mae Barrett, 84, of Kerrmoor died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her residence.

Born Nov. 2, 1930 in New Millport, she was the daughter of Byron and Ethel (Swatsworth) Sloppy.  Mrs. Barret was a homemaker and affiliated with the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City.

On Nov. 13, 1952 in Mahaffey, she wed James Blair Barrett. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her paternal grandparents, Henry and Lenora Sloppy; her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Fay Swatsworth; a son, Nelson Barrett; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Barrett; a grandson, Michael Barrett; and two sisters, Esther Sloppy and Hallie “Betty” Bloom.

Surviving are two children, Russell Sloppy and his wife, Nancy of Kerrmoor and Sharon Seger and her husband, George of Curwensville; six grandchildren, Russell, Wade and Jason Sloppy, Matthew and Courtney Segar and Christopher Barrett; and nine great-grandchildren Joshua, Hayden, Jacob, Jonah and Jett Sloppy, Taylor Segar, Brittany and Brandon Wagner and Lauren Tobias.

Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters,  Byron “Jerry” Sloppy and his wife, Elaine and Shirley Cowfer and her husband, Fred, both of New Millport, Olive Haney of Curwensville and Mervil Sloppy and his wife, Nancy of Clearfield and her good friend, Mary Wetherson.

There will be no public visitation.

A memorial service for Mrs. Barrett will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City, with the Rev. Scott Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.

The family suggests contributions be made to either the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or the Orphans of the Storm, 412 Hill St., Curwensville, PA 16833.
