Obituary Notice: Kimberly Jo (Close) Yaple

YapleKimberly Jo (Close) Yaple, 57, died peacefully in her home in Indiana, Pa., on Sunday, April 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She was a 10-year breast cancer survivor but lost a battle with colon cancer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lamont E. Close Jr. and her mother, Barbara (Shoff) Close.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Yaple; her son, Jason Yaple and his wife, Haley Sankey; and her daughter, Erica Snyder and her husband, Steve and their children, Kamryn and Jacob.

She is also survived by her brother, Monte Close and her sister, Carol (Close) Carson and their families.

Born June 23, 1957, she was a proud 1975 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School, where she was heavily involved in the music programs.

Mrs. Yaple pursued a desire to help people as a career, holding several medical assistant positions.

Her love of animals helped her to easily transition into the farming life she married into on July 22, 1976.

As a wife on the Yaple Family Farm in Houtzdale, she did what most farming wives do – everything. Though almost always short on funds, she and Curt raised a family rich with love and affection.

She spent the majority of her life in the Moshannon Valley, moving to Curwensville for a period before settling in Indiana, Pa., to be close to her greatest joy, her grandchildren.

Mrs. Yaple was active with the Presbyterian Church of Madera, where she served in multiple positions. She worked diligently as a volunteer of Mo Valley Music Association and multiple other philanthropies.

A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Yaple’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church, 182 S. Ridge Rd., Shelocta. There will be a meal immediately following.

Though Mrs. Yaple truly loved flowers, she has always wished for any gifts to go to the greater good of all. Please consider a donation to the Shelocta Community Church listed above.

Mrs. Yaple will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, easy laugh and her gracious smile.

Arrangements are entrusted to Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc. in Madera.  Online condolences may be made at www.kruise-spewock.com.
