Albert Thomas ”Abby” Novitsky, 92, of DuBois died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Oct. 17, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Twila (Balukonias) Novitsky.
He was a 1941 graduate of the St. Joseph School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was the carman for the Baltimore and Ohio and Chesapeake and Ohio Railroads for 41 years.
Mr. Novitsky was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.
He was also a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, the Sandy Hose Co. Fireman’s Club and the former Lithuanian Independence Club.
He was a past member of the West Sandy Hose Co., where he served as captain of the Fire Police for many years. He was a 61-year member of the Central District Fireman’s Association.
He is survived by a sister, Irene Yanek of DuBois and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony and Leonard Novitsky.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A military ritual service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant. Full military honors will be accorded from the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
