Center Announces Special Tours, Activities for Seniors

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Center for Active Living is offering area seniors the opportunity to visit some local spots of interest this summer.

A variety of tours are offered, including the Arboretum and Palmer Museum in State College and a Day of Shopping in Altoona complete with a train ride at Horseshoe Curve.

Travel to State College on May 22, leaving Clearfield at 9 a.m. Tour the Arboretum with a University representative from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and then enjoy a half hour on your own. The group will then go to the Corner Restaurant for lunch. (Lunch is at your own cost).

After lunch, they will visit the Palmer Museum and stop at the Creamery before leaving.  Bring your cooler and take home some treats. The group should arrive back in Clearfield at approximately 5 p.m. The cost is $17. Food is not included. This trip is limited to 20 participants.

Participate with the Center in the third Clearfield Fair Parade, which will be held on July 27. The center’s theme will be “Through the Years.” You can represent any significant period.

Participants will gather at the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc.’s parking lot, located at 103 N. Front St. at 5 p.m.  The float usually reaches the grand stand by 7:30 p.m.  You can then ride back to Front Street or stay and enjoy the fair. There is no cost to participate in the float, and there is free entry into the fair.

On Sept. 23, participants will leave Clearfield at 9 a.m. and venture to the Altoona Railroad Museum for a tour. The group will then travel to the Logan Valley Mall for lunch at the food court and free time for shopping.

On the return trip, participants will stop at Horseshoe Curve for a tour. Approximate return time to Clearfield is 5 p.m. The cost is $25 and food is not included.  This trip is also limited to 20 participants.
