SKYWARN® Training Class to be Held in Clearfield

CLEARFIELD – On April 9, the Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency’s building will be the site of a NOAA SKYWARN® training class.

The SKYWARN® course is free and open to the public. The course, called Basics I SKYWARN®, will be taught by Peter Jung, Meteorologist from the State College NOAA Forecast Office and will start at 7 p.m.

Participants will be instructed on what to look for during severe weather threats.  While forecasting and weather technology has greatly improved in the recent decades, actual weather observations remain a vital tool for forecasters during sever weather events.

The Clearfield County EMA Conference Room will accommodate a maximum of 50 attendees.  If you are interested in attending, you are asked to register to reserve a seat. Registration can be done online.

The class is being sponsored by the Clearfield County Department of Emergency Services, in cooperation with the Clearfield County Amateur Radio Emergency Service and the Clearfield County Amateur Radio Club.
