The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre will open its season with the comedy/drama, Painting Churches, which is written by Tina Howe. The show will run March 26-28.
The story centers around the relationship between an artist daughter and her aging parents. Gardner and Fanny Church are preparing to move out of their Beacon Hill house to their summer cottage on Cape Cod.

You can come learn how real maple syrup is made each Saturday and Sunday afternoon throughout the season. Learn the sweet story of maple sugaring, how it was discovered, how it was made years ago and how you can make it today.
Learn to identify maple trees in winter, how to choose the right trees for tapping, where to place the taps and so on. A few lucky participants will tap a maple tree, gather in the sap and help out. Best part – there will be free taste samples of pure maple syrup for all visitors.

Red Moshannon Down River Race
Moshannon Creek
This race is held the last Saturday in March on a remote, 7.5-mile section of the Moshannon Creek. It starts at Peale Bridge near the town of Grassflat and ends at the Route 53 Bridge near the town of Moshannon.
At moderate levels, this section is rated Class II-plus. There are classes for solo and tandem open canoes, kayaks and decked canoes.
Racers can also participate in the “poker race” by picking up cards along the race course – the best hand wins.

Easter Egg-Stravaganza
Clearfield County Fairgrounds
An Easter Egg-Stravaganza will be held Saturday, March 28 at the Expo II Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. Registration will begin at 12 p.m. and will run through 1:30 p.m.; children must be registered in order to participate in the event.
Egg hunts will be held at 2 p.m. for ages 3 years and under; 2:30 p.m. for ages 4-6 years; and 3 p.m. for ages 7-10 years. The cost is $1 per participant; children will also receive a free chance for a bike.
In addition to the egg hunt, there will be games, including a duck pond, lollipop tree, bowling, mini golf, dime pitch, etc., as well as face painting. Photographs with the Easter bunny by Victoria Lynn Photography will be $5 each.
Food sales will be provided by the Clearfield County 4-H Hot Shots.

“Elk Biologist for a Day”

There will be many activities, such as learning how the Pennsylvania Game Commission conducts population studies, the functions of an elk’s stomach and many more. Each child who participates will receive a “Jr. Elk Expert” certificate. This program will begin at 1 p.m. in the Discovery Room.
